The New McLaren P1 GTR

Naturally, the first thing that’s going to catch your eye is that radical new design. It’s got a fixed wing, centre-locking wheels, and dual exhaust. I would even go as far to say that McLaren went even more bonkers with the P1 to P1 GTR revision than it did the F1 to F1 GTR (in terms of aesthetics, at least).

With its goal to be “the best driver’s car in the world on the track,” McLaren gave its P1 GTR all the downforces. So much so that you can’t even take this thing on the road. At least, not legally

While McLaren has still kept a lot of details scarce,
what people do know is that the P1 GTR pushes out 986 horsepower, an 83-horsepower gain over its little brother. And with that, it’ll jet to 60 mph well below the 2.8 seconds of the “regular’ P1.
Again — track only

But not everyone will be driving this immensely powerful machine. To be able to get to drive this car at the P1 GTR customer-only track days, you’ll need a regular P1 and another $3.3 million on hand (or be extremely close friends with someone who has one). Joe Schmo won’t be getting behind the wheel anytime soon.
The only downside we can see is that — unlike the F1 GTR — the P1 is not eligible for Le Mans
competition.
